Last minute doctor visit this morning after talking with the nurse over the phone, so finally I heard something back. I went up there and she tells me that I look great, I weigh-in and have gained 6 pounds (which is great! I needed it) and that I can start weening off the steroid meds. However she still referred to me as being "sick", which is awful to hear since I am feeling so great and my appetite has returned to normal. I certainly don't feel sick anymore.
The bacteria is still in there based on my last samples, it's either built up resistance from the first antibiotics I had or it was nonresponsive. Now she wants me on a different and stronger dose of antibiotics that I was already warned will be pricey. So while I am slowly going off one med (YAY), I have to pick up another (BOO), which is a big helping of suckaroni with cheese, but what can I do?
Had to give more blood again today and scheduled another appt in a couple of weeks to see how things have progressed, so again it's more waiting. But she says I can be off most of the meds in about 4-6 weeks, so that is hopeful since I hate popping pills. At least there's sort of a light there at the end.
Re: More adventures from Doctor-land (semi-long)
Hey, I'm taking this as a win! You've gained weight and you feel better - YAY.
They can deal with the bug. I'm glad you feel better.

*hugs*
I'm glad you're feeling better and have a doctor who is devoted to getting you fixed up!
I have returned PM's to Milsey and Bridey, thanks!
Thanks, ladies, things are still on the upswing so it's definitely good stuff overall. She also confirmed that some of the side effects I am feeling are from the steroid that I am reducing now, so some of the negative things should clear up soon.
I'm glad that you're feeling so well! Don't let anything they say put a damper on your mood - having a health issue doesn't mean you have to feel sick. Hopefully you will be done dealing with all of this in the near future.
I'm sending good thoughts your way, OPS! I know waiting is the worst, but a lot of times that's all you can do.
::bacteria-eradicating healthy vibes::
I'm glad you're starting to feel better, Orange. Like PP said, I'm glad to see you have a doctor dedicated to get you well.
I hope these new meds make you feel better babygirl!
I am glad to hear you are freeling better, and that you are getting off of the steroids!
