Those with boob jobs

So I have been thinking a lot lately about getting them done. So now that I am starting to research I wanted to first ask ladies who have had them done and what was the things the looked for when it came to researching about this kind of thing.

Do you have saline or silicone? What did you pay for them? If you had them for more than 10yrs have you had to get them re-done? (I've heard stories, mostly from boys about this) Do you have kids? And what happened to the tatas after pregnancy?Nursing?

Do you regret your decision? Horror stories?

I would appreciate all your info. And to give you a little info into why I want to get them done...

I am 25 years old, a mom, and I am close to an A cup now after nursing my daughter. My tatas look like someone took a pin and popped my already small 34B boobs and all that was left is loose skin. So I am just trying to get something similar to what I once had.

Re: Those with boob jobs

  • Check out justbreastimplants.com- that site is AMAZING. the ladies on the forums can answer all of your questions/help you find a surgeon etc.

I had mine done less than a year ago and it was seriously the best thing I ever did for myself. I traveled to Florida for my surgeon (Dr. Revis) because his reputation is so amazing and his cost is way less than I would have paid in NY. I got silicone gels and I love them. Seriously the best decision ever. Best of luck!!

  • justbreastimplants.com is a great site/forum to get information.  I had mine done in 2005.  I waited until I was done having children to get mine done.  Mine are saline because silicone was not available to the general public at that time.  You had to be part of a study or for reconstruction to get silicone at that time.   But now you have a choice.   I love them, no regrets!!!  I got a size that was proportionate to my body.  I made sure my surgeon was a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon.  Some surgeon's classify themselves as cosmetic and pretty much anybody can be a cosmetic surgeon, but to be Board Certified as a Plastic Surgeon you have to go through extensive testing/training.  Find a surgeon that is skilled in the lastest techniques.  My surgeon was and I was up and around on the day of surgery.  You are restricted for a couple weeks on how much you can lift and you have to gradually get back into exercising.    I wanted a surgeon that performed his surgeries in a hospital setting.  Make sure your surgeon has hospital priviledges.  I think the most important thing to remember is a boob job is not instant results.  They take time to settle into place because everything has to heal on the inside, so what you see after surgery is not your final results, so patience is important in the healing process.  Also my surgeon said that you only need to replace them if something goes wrong with them.  He's had patients that have had them for over 20 years and they still are fine.  The manufacturer has to put a lifetime number on them for regulation purposes but it is not necessary to replace them if they are not deflated.

What did you pay for them? I think it was 5700, maybe it was 5300, I can't quite remember

Do you have kids? And what happened to the tatas after pregnancy?Nursing? I have one child but got them done after I had him (same deflation issue)

Do you regret your decision? Horror stories? Not at all, they are fab :)

What did you pay for them?  $5500 in Chicago area

If you had them for more than 10yrs have you had to get them re-done? Got em in 2004, I was 22 and am nowhere near needing them re-done unless one breaks.  My moms had hers over 10 years and they are fine.  I want to say my aunt went almoust 20 years on her first set.

(I've heard stories, mostly from boys about this) Do you have kids? And what happened to the tatas after pregnancy?Nursing?  No kids, no plans to.  So mine are still super perky.

Do you regret your decision?  Not at all, I love them

Horror stories? Only from those who got them in Mexico.  I worked in a PS office and we had some really bad stuff come in for repairs/redos.

Go to a small C at least.  That's what mine are and they don't look obnoxious or fake at all.  Also, if you aren't done having kids I would probably wait at this point.

  • Good questions! I've wanted to get mine done for many years but haven't done it yet. I figure now at 29, I should probably wait until after we have kids (if we decide to have them within the next 3-4 years) and get them done afterward since it seems like that's what most people do.
I did get estimates back around 8 years ago - I think it was around $5500 but not completely sure. I'll check out the doc pp rec'd Dr. Revis since I live in FL anyway.

    GL!

  • I have a post on my blog on my experience if you want to check it out :) I am so glad I did it! Had mine done in 2007.
  • Thanks for all your input ladies.
  • I got mine done about 9 years ago in Pittsburgh. I researched and met a few doctors in a couple states before I chose one. I also wanted mine inserted under breasts and not through the nipple or belly button.

I got saline under the muscle and went from an A/B to D. Being 5'10" they looked proportional and not to big.

I have since had a son whom I breastfed for 1 yr. Though my breasts are still perky I feel as if I'm a little smaller. I plan on having one more child and after I'm done breastfeeding I may look in to having them redone just to get back to a 34 D.

I Know a lot of people with implants. My ex MIL has had hers in for 20 years and no issues. My ex SIL had hers redone 3 times in a couple years because she was in a few car accidents and worried about leaking.

When I was considering implants I had several people tell me two things. 1.  No matter what size you pick you will wish you went bigger. 2.  After the procedure you will cry and wonder why you did it. Mainly because they sit so high after they are done and you feel like you are a porn star. Both proved true for me. Though I'm very happy wih my choice of 34D. It does take about a year before you heal and see the true results.

Im very happy wih my choice to get them.
