So, I'm going on a date tonight...we're going hiking (nothing too crazy, it's pretty local, but full of foresty trails) and then maybe going to dinner. I imagine we'd hike for an hour so.
I'm stuck on what to wear. I normally wear yoga-type pants or running capris when I hike, but I think those are a little too clingy to wear today and I'd feel weird wearing those to dinner (maybe if I was with a friend or something, but I want to look/feel "cute") and I also have these hiking pants. They're cute on, but the only thing that annoys me is they are that "swooshy" type material, so they are "loud" when I walk (or at least to me). I figure I can pair it with a cute cotton/dri fit tee and I have a zip up black fleece to go over (it's a bit chilly here).
No matter what, I'll wear my hiking shoes (low trail trails).
I want to look cute and hiking-ready but not too "hardcore" hiking. I also want to be able to transition into dinner, which I'd imagine would be somewhere casual.
We're both really into the outdoors...and I've never put much thought into what I wear hiking, so I am kind of laughing at myself. But hey-I like to be fashionable.
So...fashion SO ladies. A) yoga type black pants B.) Hiking pants C.) old jeans.
JM-please feel free to chime in! It's things like these that I like a guys perspective, too!
Re: Hiking Date-what to wear?
Could you pair the yoga paints with cute flats for after your hike so you feel more presentable at dinner?
Also, don't know what it's like where you are but I went on a hiking date and we both ended up getting eaten alive, which killed the date. I'd bring some bugspray just in case.
The yoga pants would look weird with flats...they're more of a spandex type material vs. cotton and I don't have flats that would work...I have either cute tennies, converse, boots or dressy flats (I wouldn't do leopard print flats with my yoga pants?)
I'm not terribly worried about my shoes. I live in a pretty outdoor friendly town and no one would think twice about hking shoes.
And no bugs where I am!
That's kind of my thought...and I'd really never wear jeans hiking?
Chiming in late here but I would change before you go to dinner. It really doesn't matter what you wear rock climbing (as far as fashion) but you want to look cute at dinner.
Do you have time to buy some nice workout clothes? Maybe lululemon or gap body? Their pants are pretty flattering and you can find a zipup or long tee to keep you warm. They would be fine for an hour hike followed by dinner.
I wouldn't wear hiking pants or old jeans because they aren't as flattering as yoga pants. I also wouldn't worry too much about it... he invited you hiking and likely realizes these aren't your normal date clothes.
For those that couldn't sleep last nigth because they were wondering what I wore...I went with the hiking pants, cute tee and my fleece. The yoga pants were too tight in the rear for me to feel comfortable. I felt cute and comfy, not out of place and was just fine for dinner.
Date went well? No mention of another date at the end of the night, so we'll have to see.
Sounds like a cute outfit!
They see us rollin'...they be hatin'.
