Re: ***Steeser03***

  • Thanks! It was very stressful yesterday! They told me to plan to pick her up between 5-6 PM but by 4:30, I hadn't heard anything from the doctor.  I called and they said, "The doctor is finishing up some radiograms and she will need to speak to you."

So then I was really worried, but when she called back she said that everything went fine although the damage was worse than they had thought. She had a completely severed CCL and a torn meniscus. They did the repair, implants, and had to shave the bone for re-alignment but everything else (cartiledge, joint, etc.) looked good.

We went and picked her up and she was so sad :( It broke my heart. She cried for most of the night even after I gave her the pain medication. But she did eat without vomitting and was able to get up to go to the bathroom. This morning she's in a little better spirits but she is still uncomfortable and in a lot of pain obviously.

    Thanks for thinking of us!

Here's the pic I snapped of her last night. At least they gave her a cool looking bandage :)

  • Oh and I asked the vet how she was, and they said she just slept int he kennel all day and didn't make a peep. That she was very good for them, even when another dog had the others all worked up :) So that made me happy (even though they very well could have fibbed to make me feel better), I was worried she would be distraught all day.

  • Oh gosh I totally feel you! I waited for hours to hear anything about Cooper. I didn't hear back till about 8pm, & I had called about 50x b/c I knew they closed @ 5. I was soooo pissed/heartbroken/worried!!

Anyway, huge sucktastic that things were worse then expected! But then again, I mean, as long as she's having the surgery, might as well make it worth it! Lol

OH poor thing!!! What a rough night!! Omg I bet you didn't sleep @ all!!

Ok, SO weird the differences in (Vet) practices for the (relatively) same surgery. Cooper wasn't bandaged @ all. I've seen pics of dogs who have had casts put on the leg too. Just odd. He never bothered his incisions at all either. It wasn't until later on in his recovery w/the left side that he started to have issues, but that was b/c the internal dissolvable stitches didn't dissolve & were scratching him from the inside....

Anyway, glad to hear from you & that things are ok!! Keep us updated!! Big Smile
