A little perspective helps

As I went home yesterday and started cooking dinner, I was a little disheartened at having to pay for another round of expensive meds and having to fork over more than $300 for some tires in the same day.     Then the H was talking about how one of his students tweaked his ankle and hobbled off during drills that day only to have to go to the hospital and find out he needed emergency surgery.

Poor teen ended up getting two pins in his ankle last night, and it wasn't even a collision or anything, just a little freak twist of the ankle that he did on his own!     I always hate to hear things like that but in a way it made me suck up my own sorrows and reaffirm that things are never as bad as they really seem at the time.   They can always be worse.

  • I think it's okay to feel sorry for yourself for a little bit. But what's important is that you shook it off and are able to replace the negativity with positivity.

That's my toughest thing. I'm a pessimist at heart so I really have to remind myself to look on the bright side of things.

    Good for you, Orange!

I feel the same way. I have a lot of sh!t going on and it's taking a toll on me, but there are people out there that do have it worse than me.

  • I'm sure your positive attitude will help speed your recovery!

  • Wow. It definitely does help to realize that it could be worse, especially when you hear something like that about someone you know. I hope the drugs help you and that this kid has a quick and full recovery on his ankle!

  • Yeah, I'm usually an optimist, but even I have days where I'm like "whoa is me."

People have it completely awful out there, and my situation isn't anywhere near awful, so sometimes I just have to tell myself to get over it and stop being a pissy pants.

  • Poor kid!  I hope he's not on crutches too long, because that sucks!  :(

OPS, you are one of the most positive people I "know".  You have every right to feel down about what you're going through, just don't let that feeling take over.  ((hugs))

  • Thanks for all the support and hugs from here, I am glad we have eachother to help keep the positive energy going.     I know everyone has those times where it feels like things are hitting from all angles, and we all need a little pity party every now and then.

You can't change the circumstances that life hands you, but you can alter your reactions to those circumstances in a positive or negative way. I try to consistently "Be Positive" since that's my blood type/life motto, but you are right that everyone has their off days and that is okay, too.  Smile
