f/u: Question about YHL+Sherry+rapping
Why do you think that they haven't touted Sherry's rapping past before? They've been open with lots of things, including John's audition for the Real World (if I have that right) and stand up comedy dreams. They generally don't shy away from publicity and do have a self-depreciating sense of humor.
So why not comment on this before? Why not make this its own post?
Re: f/u: Question about YHL+Sherry+rapping
I don't think they owe anyone any info about their private lives. If they choose to share some stuff, great, but just like anyone I am sure there are some areas that they are embarassed about, or just simply want to keep private. I know being on MTV is not private, but I don't think she owes anyone a post about the experience and how she feels about it.
It was freaking funny though!
It's a family friendly blog. Eminem is hardly family friendly, and not good for their wholesome image.
I think I actually like sherry more after seeing that video, but I'm sure a lot of their readers would be put off by it.
Now every time I see them describe themselves as awkward dorks, or talk about letting their freak flags fly, instead of being annoyed by the constant self deprecation I will think of $herry and her passionate aspirations to be a white rapper from the suburbs.
This. It really has nothing to do with anything really (blog-wise).
They haven't really showed it in the blog. It was in a post here on D&R about a day ago (so only like 1-2 pages back). It was called something like "YHL as aspiring rappers". And you know any "YHL" post gets like 1,000 views so is made to be popular! HAha
Following up to my own follow up?? Haha here ya go!

Thank you! I was prepared to flip back a few pages.
They don't owe that information to their readers. No matter how transparent they are they still have a right to keep some things private. Sherry was just a teenager having some fun.
I'm thinking this has more to do with it than anything. Some type of confidentiality clause, either on behalf of MTV or any of their current contracts.
Ding Ding Ding I think we have a winner!!!
Also they "owe" absolutely nothing to their readers, if they want to stop blogging tomorrow they can. They don't have to put up pictures of anything that is related to their personal life that isn't 100% DIY related, and sometimes they do. I think too many blog readers get comfy with the bloggers that they are reading and feel like the blogger owes them to tell them everything.
If I were Sherry I would want to keep that a secret. I don't think it helps her image at all. Yes she was young but to me the video seemed really scripted or that she was just wanting to be on tv. I also had to Lol at her hair!
I also don't think they need to get that personal in their blog. I sometimes feel like they over share with Clara as it is. But I think a lot of their readers are kind of obsessed with their family.
Agreed. I think would've gladly shared this gem of a video if they could (whether or not it fits w/ their image).
I think Sherry was actually endearing in that video! And I'm usually not a fan when $herdog tries to talk "street" ;-)
ITA -- and it's lame and embarrassing. Pigtails, much?! eek.
ETA: I would so not want videos up of my horrible fashion at 16, either!
I don't think the OP was saying they "owe" their readers an explanation or blog post about this video. I agree, that as over-sharers, I am surprised they haven't mentioned it.
