We currently have linoleum in our kitchen floor and I just bought a new rug for in front of the sink. I bought one without the non-skid backing because I wanted to be able to just throw it in the wash, but also because I thought I had read somewhere that the rubber (or whatever material it is?) on non-skid backed rugs can discolor linoleum/vinyl floors (and I'm pretty sure the old rug that I had there did). However, the rug slides all over the place when we (mainly DH) stand on it. Any suggestions for what to do? I don't really care about the floor that's in there now, but we are planning to remodel our kitchen very soon and will probably do vinyl tiles, so I don't want something that is going to discolor them in the future. Although I'm not even sure that it's true about the backing discoloring the floor!
TIA!
Re: non-skid rug pad?
We use these on all our rugs, and they work great. http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/zbrandskiosk/rugs/mohawk/PRD~c16987/Mohawk+Home+Rug+Pad.jsp
We used it on our vinyl flooring and never had any issues. Now we have tile though. We use them on wood and tile.
