Hi everyone,
My yorkie has dry skin on his belly, can someone recommend what I can do.
Thanx
Re: Dry belly
Fish oil is really good for dry, flaky skin on dogs (and people). You can either buy the human version or go to your vets office and get the dog brand either way you are giving them then same thing. I purchase the economy size bottle at Sam's Club and squeeze two capsules on each of my dogs food once a day. For a yorkie, I would only use one. Most dogs won't eat the capsule (and I'm not really comfortable with the idea of them eating it) so just poke a hole in one end and squeeze onto food.
Ditto the fish oil rec. I get salmon oil in a bottle with a pump, and each of my pugs gets 1 squirt on their food with dinner (the bottle gives recommended doses based on weight).
Also, what kind of food do you give your dog? Sometimes a reaction/allergy to something in the food can cause dry/flaky/itchy skin, so a change might be in order.
