Can I save this dress?? PIP
I ordered a dress from eBay, and it's a little snug. Ok maybe kind of a lot snug at the top. The top is corset style, and it zips up the side. I'm wondering if it's possible for a tailor to either add a strip of fabric to the non-zip side, as well as maybe a teeny bit of fabric around the zipper? Or is it just hopeless? I'll try to find some pictures in case my description doesn't make sense...

Here is the dress
I know, that's my thought as well. It's actually embroidery on white fabric.
What about this idea:
Take out the zipper in the side and sew it up, then put a zipper down the back with maybe black fabric around the zipper? So it would look intentional instead of being just a random strip on one side.
eta - a pic of the back of the dress
Ah! That's a great idea, I'll have to find out if I can do that. I only worry about the skirt part, but they could probably gather it up and attach to black park for a little extra give. Right now, the zipper goes down into the skirt for extra room getting it on/off.
I didnt realize that. But it looks like the skirt is made of enough material to be able to pull it off. And maybe even hide a stretchy panel.
Take my advice with a grain of salt. I rarely know what I'm talking about. lol
Good luck! I really hope they can help you. That dress is really cute.
Yea I have a seamstress I really love back home that I will bring the dress to next time I'm there. The dress is actually from a year or two ago, I found it on eBay:) It's Mara Hoffman "spellbound" dress, was being sold at anthropologie at one point and I missed the boat. Runs very small apparently!
~~~MARRIED BIO~~~
Sure, it's called the "Spellbound" dress, by Mara Hoffman.
Thanks for the help everyone! I really hope I can figure out how to make it wearable.
I dunno but that is a niiiiice dress! Your best bet is probably the side paneling suggestion, GL!
