Ladies from the state of Ohio, please come in
Cincinnati in November is looking pretty damn good for us for the Giants-Bengals game. Tell me everything I need to know about Cincinnati, and...GO!
Also, I request the honor of your presence in the City of Cincinnati - if not for tailgating and the game, but for hanging out at some point during our trip.
Re: Ladies from the state of Ohio, please come in
Brookles lives in Cincinnati. And she is the awesome. So you should hang out with her.
That is the extent of my 'nati knowledge.
JealousE!
also re: your baltimore excursion - there are like 20 bars within spitting distance, pretty much literally, from the stadium, so we can hang out there before the game too. Since I'll be in Ravens gear for this one

<a href="http://www.thenest.com/?utm_source=ticker&utm_medium=HTML&utm_campaign=tickers" title="Home DLet's see. People down there wear their "Home to Skyline Chili, the ZOMGBESTCHILIEVAR" badges proudly, and will argue with you if you dare say Skyline is anything but amazing. I didn't decide I liked it until college, and before then my parents were wondering if I was switched at birth because of this. Lots of bars and restaurants within spitting distance of the stadium, and I think decent tailgating opportunities.
Oh, and Copz and I will def roadtrip it down (KatiesCats, if being around a bunch of drunk football fans doesnt make you want to break out in hives you need to come too). I promise to not drink tequila, so as to not serenade you all with my best Bon Jovi renditions (which is what I did to J the last time I went to a Bengals game...and the last time I drank the devil liquid).
Yes!
We live close to the hometown of Jon Bon Jovi. Singing Bon Jovi songs would be very appropriate when we're there!
I see that the stadium is right smack dab in downtown Cincinnati, so I guess we'll stay in a hotel downtown too. H is already searching for game tickets so if anyone has any interest in actually going inside the stadium for the game, let me know. But even just tailgating is worth it - I loooooooove tailgating.
I'm not a huge fan of chili. And I'm sure if I ask for vegetarian chili they will know I'm some liberal hippie elitist from somewhere else. Although as long as I'm with DH, they will know we're from New York if not the moment they see him, then the moment he opens his mouth and says a few words.

<a href="http://www.thenest.com/?utm_source=ticker&utm_medium=HTML&utm_campaign=tickers" title="Home DWhile singing Bon Jovi would be okay then, the singing part is not...you guys don't want that, trust me
There are tons of hotels downtown, you shouldn't have an issue getting a reasonably priced one.
Vegetarian chili can likely be found on the liberal hippie elitist side of Cinci...aka the east side
(I say that fondly, as I too am a liberal hippie elitist and love the east side. Plus my sister lives there.)
I could be persuaded to go to the game...Copz how about you?
What would you recommend we do in terms of sightseeing, activities, etc.? Well, besides getting drunk at a football game, of course.
Husbands are welcome too. My H is a typically guy - he likes sports, beer, meat, and chicks. He is loud and macho. Men seem to enjoy his company lol.

<a href="http://www.thenest.com/?utm_source=ticker&utm_medium=HTML&utm_campaign=tickers" title="Home DYay!!!

<a href="http://www.thenest.com/?utm_source=ticker&utm_medium=HTML&utm_campaign=tickers" title="Home DSorry, just a lurker, but I figured I would throw in my cincy knowledge.
Most outsiders seem to not like our chili and spaghetti because it is thin, although it is pretty awesome to. Gold Star is better than Skyline.
They are building up the banks down near the stadium so you can pretty much walk to all the restaraunts and bars. The holy grail is great, but packed during events. If you are a country fan they opened a Toby Keith's I love this bar and grill down there, heard it is entertaining.
You can also drive or walk over to KY to visit Newport bars, movie theatre, or the aquarium if you are doing the whole weekend.
Other than that I hope you have a great time and enjoy the city ;o) Go bengals!
We are buying season tickets for this season. People tailgate extensively. There are plenty of bars within walking distance of the stadium. Parking will be insanity.
You should visit the Newport Aquarium, it's right across the river and rated 2nd in the nation. Definitely eat at Skyline, not Gold Star chili no matter what moron tells you otherwise (like MH). Also, any Jack Ruby restaurant will be amazing, guaranteed. If you like German, there's also an abundance of that.
Also, people yell and scream for the entire day on Sunday. It used to be slightly annoying, especially after the bars close, but it grows on you.
You can't smoke in bars in Cincy, but if that's your thing go across the bridge because KY allows it. I can answer any other questions you have if need be. I'm a native.
Stop spreading lies. Goldstar tastes exactly like vomit.
Thanks for all the info!
So glad to hear Cincinnati doesn't allow smoking in bars. NYC hasn't allowed it for about a decade now and I love it.
I know there's quite a bit of history in the city, so I'd like to spend part of the weekend walking around some of the oldest neighborhoods there. While we could rent a car if we must, it would be great to get around on foot as much as possible.

<a href="http://www.thenest.com/?utm_source=ticker&utm_medium=HTML&utm_campaign=tickers" title="Home Dsorry ladies, Skyline has cheaped out and made it too watery anymore
Stay away from Over the Rhine. It's dangerous. I'm being very serious here.
Ha, I was just reading about Over the Rhine and how parts of it are dangerous, but not all of it. How dangerous is it really?
Also, the Creation Museum is not far from the airport in KY! DH teaches science so he would get a kick out of that - I'd have to worry about him defacing the building or something though lol.

<a href="http://www.thenest.com/?utm_source=ticker&utm_medium=HTML&utm_campaign=tickers" title="Home DDrive by shootings as gang initiations are a common occurrence. Muggings, beatings, anything bad. Drugs. We walked from the stadium to our hose in Clifton and had to walk through it around midnight and were constantly looking over our shoulders and walked quickly. We were a large group though.
You should check out Clifton. It's a college place (UC) but it's still pretty awesome.
I also think you should rent a car. Although there are busses that go everywhere. And plenty of taxi companies.
Dangerous enough that I'd say stay out of it. As mentioned, Clifton is pretty cool (I lived there when I was in grad school and my mom grew up there) and I like Mt. Adams for puttering around in too.
Checking in, newly relocated to Columbus area.
Cinci seems awfully southern to me though. I don't think I can go there

<a href="http://www.thenest.com/?utm_source=ticker&utm_medium=HTML&utm_campaign=tickers" title="Home DSee if flying into Columbus is any cheaper. Sometimes it is, sometimes not...depends on the airline. It'd mean a couple of hours in the car to get down to Cinci, but if the price break is big enough it might be worth it.
Or Dayton. That's where I usually fly in to when I get to visit. Moving back in 5 months, holla!
In addition to checking Columbus and Dayton, check Louisville too. It's basically the same amount of drive time as Columbus. As pp, said, you'll probably need a car anyway in Cincinnati anyways, so driving an hour and a half might not be that big of an off putting thing.

<a href="http://www.thenest.com/?utm_source=ticker&utm_medium=HTML&utm_campaign=tickers" title="Home DGonna raise my eyebrow to this. OTR was extremely dangerous in the past (2001 riots, anyone?), but it's undergoing some serious revitalization right now. I don't know that I'd go there yet as a young woman on my own, but I've been down there before with friends and have felt perfectly safe.
I'd highly recommend Neon's for a drink, and Lucy Blue's for a "I've had too much to drink and am craving a great slice of pizza." Japp's is pretty awesome, too (owned by some of the same people who own Neon's).

I'm just shocked that you are going to travel TO Cinncinnati to see a non-conference game. Against the BENGALS!
--Signed, Skins fan who is super excited to get RGIII in 6 days, but saw Cinncinnati as a home game and realize that's a money-loser.
