A teal and yellow bathroom

Hi all.  I recently went to target and scanned the clearance, as always.  I found a teal shower curtain and a yellow shower curtain, plastic and fabric respectively.  I love the two colors together especially since kohl's has a candle set of teal, yellow and white.  So with those curtains and the candle set, I am trying to figure out what else to add for accents.  Any ideas?  I was going to paint the walls the yellow of the curtain and candle but I do not know if I should do plain yellow.  This is the one room in the house I am stuck on with decorating.

I attached the yellow and teal colors.

Any ideas welcome.  Thanks

Re: A teal and yellow bathroom

  • I'm a huge fan of teal! Used it as my wedding color because I loved it so much. As for other accents in the bathroom, what about some form of wall art to hang behind the toilet or on another open wall? I would think you might want to pick up the teal in the other accents since the walls will be yellow. Maybe teal hand towels?

  • I think if you're using both curtains, yellow walls might be too much. Especially since the yellow one will be the one on the outside, right? I feel like I would be swimming in a sea of yellow.

My bathroom is turquoise everything, but with light grey walls. The shower curtain, bathmat, towels, and some accessories are turquoise, but the walls are neutral. I think it's a good balance of color.

Good point! I didn't even think about that in my reply. A nice muted color for the walls might be nice. When we did teal for our wedding, we accent it with silver.

By the way . . sweet name! Big Smile

    haha. yes! 1 N!

One N rocks! Crazy people spelling it with 2 or adding an E to it. Nuts! lol

  • I'm not sure I'd throw another color into the mix for the walls. What about a much lighter shade of the yellow (or teal)? Go to the paint store, find a chip that matches the candles and then go "up" to the lightest/much lighter version of it. That will coordinate, but not be so saturated or overwhelming.

I think white accents are always nice. Depending on what kind of accents you're talking about chocolate or black could be nice. (Especially if your cabinets are dark.) Something like the band around the candle box. You can get picture frames in that color, too.

  • I am sorry. I did not think about the order of the curtains.  The yellow is in the back and the teal up front.  I will get a curtain that is plain for behind it, but for now I have the teal in front and the yellow behind.

    Sorry again.

THIS! :o) a muted shade would be lovely. and as a tip, i just read (i think in the latest issue of BHG) that "pastels" with grey-ish undertones instead of white undertones are more sophisticated. so you could look for a muted yellow or a muted teal for the walls :o)
