Place where I b!tch about MIL

DH got an email from FIL saying that MIL would like this $25 (for 2 oz, mind you) foot salve for Mother's Day. Oh and since they will be in Italy the week of Mother's Day, could we please have it sent to them the week before so they get it on time?

I don't even know where to start with this one.

You know what my mom asks for on Mother's Day? Nothing, cuz its f**king Mother's Day and most moms just want a call and a card from their grow-ass, across the country, poor-as-*** children. Not requesting gourmet toiletries for her (2nd in 5 years) jaunt across Europe to be sent a week early since god forbid she is w/o a reminder of our constant love in foot scrub form whilst abroad.

  • Wow Tongue Tied

    Spoiled much?

  • Definitely. DH and FIL don't even see it. Relatives across the country are not supposed to cause me this much angst!

  • Families are different in their approaches to gift giving .  $25 to keep the peace and make her happy is not hard to do --so do it and keep quiet about it.

    Wow, I agree with Sisugal.

Frankly, I think your MIL did you a favor.  You don't have to figure out what would make her happy (especially if she has enough money to buy herself what she wants), and it's a very moderately priced gift.  You're not so broke-ass you can't spare 25 on you mom, and if you whine about it, you'll appear to be the selfish one.

Team Sibil/Sisu (hahahahaha).  I wish my ILs would make it that easy.

  • I have a problem with her directing the hows and whens of the gift.  I could see telling someone what you want if they ask, but what your MIL did seems too demanding.
