litter box question

So, my cat is very particular about where she pees. And it took us a while to figure that out. She used to find piles of clothes or anything other than her litter box to pee in. Now that we've figured out where she likes to pee and her litter box is there she hasn't made messes anywhere else.
Too bad the room that the litter box is in, is where we want the nursery for our new baby... If it were bigger we would just make that room our bedroom, but our bed would take up almost the whole room.
I read somewhere that you can gradually move the litter box each day until it's in the preferred (to you) location. Does anyone have experience with this and does it work?

Re: litter box question

  • I have read that too and have used it as part of my recent quest to get Lily to stop peeing. I can't say if it works or not because we have too many other factors playing in.

I would start to try it and see what happens. Start very small and just move it a couple inches a day to start. Fingers crossed it works for you!

  • We did it with a covered box, but the room stayed the same.

You could also try using Cat Attract litter and Feliway to make the new locations calming and enticing.

Ditto the cat attract and feliway. We've moved litter boxes before, VERY slowly, and even my insane peeing cats have been okay with it. :) Good luck!
