We have termites in our yard, but not penetrating the house (we had an inspection).
I would prefer not to spend a prohibitive amount of money for termite protection, if I can avoid it. However, so far, the DIY termite control products available seem to have lousy reviews.
Has anyone had success with with a DIY termite control product?
Re: DIY Termite Control?
Gross sorry haven't had this problem yet.

When we lived in an area prone to termites, we just sucked it up and bought the protection plan with a reputable exterminator. The yearly fee is a whole lot less expensive than replacing/repairing around damage.
Many of the propietary chemicals are only available to licensed professionals.
Actually, you can buy the same chemicals exterminators use (Termidor SC) and treat your home yourself. You have to dig a trench around your home, since it has to be applied underground, but you will save a TON of money!
Here is where I buy stuff for termite control: http://www.domyownpestcontrol.com/termites-c-3.html
Those guys will also guide you through the process of doing your own termite treatment, which is helpful.
