3 years ago today I adopted this sick, scrawny, old (the previous owners told the shelter he was 3 yrs old) guinea pig. I thought at the absolute least I'd give him a comfortable place to pass away by taking him home. Little did I know, he was such a fighter! He ate every salad I made him with extra vit c crushed on top (He had scurvy really bad, to the point of having to hop around...) And took ever dose of (topical) mite treatment. He sat still on the scale for every weigh in. Within a week, his hair started to grow back, his hot spots where he bit/scratched himself bloody started to heal, his gait started to get more normal, and he started gaining weight. I was sooo happy. He's my little fighter. Best of all, he got along amazingly with my two other adult (male) pigs. (Which, from what I've heard, is really rare with territoriality and whatnot. Pfft, boys....)
Here is Sammy April 20th, 2009, the night after I brought him home. He had very little hair on the lower half of his body (He looked like a cactus, lol)
And here are all 3 of my boys, enjoying their salad. (my dearly departed Max=brown, Piggins=white, Sammy=all healed up with LONG, CRAZY, MULTICOLORED hair!!)
And my favorite of all: here's Sammy's little face, once he's done eating his salad.
Happy Birthday Sammy! You're an amazing little pig!!
Re: AW: my Guinea Pig is 6(ish) today!! (XP, and PsiP)
I feel like the "Rocky Theme Song" Is appropriate for this post!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SAMMY!!!!
Happy bday Sammy! I LOVE the pic of him with green juice all over his beard, hehe
I grew up with guinea pigs and adored them - have a soft spot in my heart for the little squeakers!
By the way, is it weird for me to tell you that I'm kind of jealous of your guinea pigs' salad?! LOL it looks good enough for humans to eat. My own lunch salads don't look nearly as fresh or full of different things like lettuce, cukes, etc.

you're actually not the only person who has told me this!!! LOL! I suppose it would be a good salad, just take out the parsley and add some cheese, croutons and some dressing, and I'd eat it. LOL
Thank you, ladies!
