s/o Ankles - I'm going to whine about mine. (w/ ugly PIPs)

It sucks.  Almost 7 months later, and I still can't walk normally.  I still have to use a cane when I'm walking around the city, and going down stairs is a challenge.  I wear sneakers most of the time, which I hate, but they are def more comfortable than flip flops unfortunately.  I feel like a loser grandma with my sneakers and cane.

And the worst part is that the thing still swells up disgustingly by the end of the day, and it *** hurts.  It's not excruiating by any means, but it's annoying and it keeps me from walking as far as would like.

And when I get home:

I know, gross, right?  Okay, I'm going to commence "sucking it up" now.  :)

  • WOW - that IS a big difference. Sad

Do you ice it every day?

I try to, but last night I didn't get home until midnight so I just went to bed.  It'll be the same thing tonight, but I have PT so they'll ice it for me before I leave.  It does help, thankfully.

  • oooooouuuuch, that hurts just to see it, I can't imagine how badly it must feel when it's swollen like that!!

Feel free to complain ALL you want, you have not burdened us at all with complaints and you have every right to betch!     I can't believe how long this is taking for you to to recover, and I wish I could take it all away from you if I could.

**hugs MN and also passes doobie**

  • Yikes, that sucks!

I know it's been awhile, but I'm hoping you won't have to deal with this forever.

Do you at least have a cool cane? Smile

  • Ummm, you don't need to suck up anything.  Seven months is a long time!  Will the swelling eventually go away?  My ankles swell in the summer - especially when I sit all day at work (not as bad as yours), but enough that by the end of the day they feel heavy and the skin is tight; it's so uncomfortable!

No, I don't!  :(  I didn't think I'd need it this long, so I have a cheapo metal one with a gray handle that looks just like my crutches.  I joked about covering it in glitter for Vegas, but...no.  lol

Perhaps it's time to find a better one though.  :)

Thanks, PSU.  I guess eventually it won't be as bad, but I've been going to PT for about two months and he told me its going to be a looooong time before it gets better.  It will probably be worse in the summer.

  • :-( Vent away-- that is a looooong time to have to deal with that! It must be so frustrating.

Since my left ankle is hurt, we could totally strap them together and make one non-gimpy person!
