I *think* it's a done deal

S went in for the interview this morning, and he called me a little while ago to say he starts 5/21!  Sounds like this morning was just a formality, because he only went in to the see his grad school buddy (who will be his boss).  They negotiated some additional vacation time in leui of the difference in salary.  It's the same base salary as he has now, but they currently do not give out bonuses.  Plus, we save a point on our mortgage interest rate because S's current employer is a bank and we financed our home through them, so we'll lose that discount.  Overall though, we worked out the numbers and even though it's a slight paycut, the intangibles far outweigh the difference in salary.

He'll probably receive the offer letter next week, but he's not giving notice to his current boss until after we return from vacation and he has the letter in-hand.  I'm so stinkin' happy for S and he seems really excited about the job, as well as what it could mean for him long-term.

Party!!!
