What attributes of houses do you find overly hyped..

  • I don't care for built-in bookcases on the sides of fireplaces. In this area, when they do the built-ins they also put little square Windows above them. DH and I love a lot of natural light and would rather have large Windows. We just moved into a home we had built and we had large arched Windows installed around fireplace instead of built-ins and little Windows.

  • Dual sinks in the master bath.  To me, it's just one more thing to clean.  I'm not too fond of stainless steel--too many fingerprints would drive me crazy.

I love jetted tubs though.  Our old house had one and I used it all the time since I have a bad back--it helped tremendously and I miss it.

Spa/jet/jacuzzi tubs.  Who the heck really uses them?

Enormous master bathrooms.  I'd rather have a modest bath and extra closet space.

    Two story foyers.

    Me!  All the time :)

I have lower back pain and it helps.  And nothing is nicer after a long run or day of hiking then sitting in a jacuzzi tub.

My HH pet peeve is when they complain about the yard being too small and it's actually 3 times my city yard :P

I actually prefer fewer bathrooms overall.  Just more to clean!  I never want to have more than 2 bathrooms (and that is what I think I will want with 3 teenagers- with 2 little kids, having only 1 bath is awesome!).

I like smaller spaces in general.  I would rather have smaller sq footage, well laid out.  Less to maintain, cheaper to fix, less to heat/cool.  We are looking at 1500ish sq ft houses even though for about the same price we could get about twice that.  I would rather have the small.
