Ok, LAST chandelier over pub table post and a TY!
A million thanks to those who offered such great feedback and who found the same PB chandelier I found on Overstock for ~50% less, potentially saving me $155!
So I'm thinking our style is transitional to eclectic - we have many things from our global travels decorating our home.
I really like the crystal look of #1 but fear it is too formal. But I think the round crystals are more contempory than a traditional crystal chandelier making it fit in to that transitional style - I could be wrong.

Then there is the other option (#2) which I don't find as exciting but may eb a good alternative if #1 is deemed too formal.

Thinking of doing cosmetic updates to a dated home? These were our costs.
I like number one.
If it were me, and I really REALLY wanted a wow experience with a light I'd get #1 and then I'd spray paint it an accent color that works with the room and the linens. Maybe a red, rusty orange or even a turquoise. I think that that fixture with the round baubles would look so chic and eclectic in a color.
You are very brave and probably very right! I'm reaching out of my comfort zone with anything other than a standard, ordinary light fixture to begin with but maybe in the future I'll be bold enough to try your suggestion!
Agreed. I would go with #1. I think #2 might actually a little odd over a table or in a dinning room area.
