If you read nothing else, check out the list of names of speakers. Cynthia Dunbar, nutjob on the Texas SBOE. Mark Rubio, currently being offered as a VP choice. Lou Engle, Ron Luce. Read up on the groups they're from. There really is a subversive push to infiltrate the White House and "return" this country to a 'biblical worldview.' It is not the Muslins we need to worry about.
http://godsownparty.com/blog/2012/04/theocrats-congregate-to-push-christian-supremacy-in-america/
These are the types of gatherings that happen across America with alarming regularity. Many of the names in the entire listing will not be recognized by most people, but I am taking the liberty of posting a portion that include the bigger name players in this march of the theocrats.
This group of approximately 60 political Christians represents the 7 Mountains that they have stated openly is their program for ?re-claiming America?. You can view the entire gallery of attendants here.
There are more attending but you can see that this turned out to be quite long as it is. The reason why I spent the last few hours pulling this together to put in a post is because it is crucial that we keep seeing these same leaders of political Christianity when they crop up at these events across the country. The more I bring it up, the more familiar these faces and names will become and the more confident you will get in appreciation just how organized they are.
Few pay attention to these gatherings because they seem innocuous and that is precisely why I took this time to list the ones I did. These people either have direct influence in our political landscape, are members of legislative bodies or both. This is the seed of theocracy and they have unquestionably infested the Republican Party and redefined ?conservative? politics in the United States.
Re: Theocrats congregate to push Christian Supremacy
you must have gone to Glenn Beck's University of revisionist history.
Above Us Only Sky
Well, you can take Marco Rubio off my VP list now. Dammit.
I wish it were, Tef, but it's real.
People don't believe this stuff because outside of some nutters, how could they be "that bad?" Except it really is that bad. Not Christians in general, but the Dominionists. I've kept up with it for years now. Liberty University has pushed tons of its graduates into positions of power, and into the White House, to pretty much take it over and push laws promoting biblical worldviews. I can tell you to google dominionists, parallel economies, liberty university, etc. Read anything by someone with the monikor Dogemperor. She is a walkaway from a dominionist church and has done extensive research into what they do now. Find the "Dark Christian" group on livejournal. Back when LJ was the cool kid's place, it's where we kept up with with the dog whistles and goings on of these extremists. Read up on the Monica Goodling AG scandal a few years ago. There is just so much.
word
Seriously. I just don't even have the time. But the ignorance....it burns.
Wow, how'd you know?
Z snap
Fine, none of them spoke at this, whatever. What I do know is that the people listed are Dominionists, are tied to the cause, and are neck deep in promoting it. If they didn't speak at this one, they have likely spoken at others. Read up on Cynthia Dunbar, for example.
**I'm sorry for snapping, Tef. All I can suggest is what I've said above, read up on the people who are involved. Read up on the groups they are affiliated with. Google Dogemperor and read the things she's researched and written about (prolifically). There's far more than I can write up or explain in a post, but it's there.
Eta: I haven't found anything of substance where it says Rubio is of this movement. He is catholic, per CNN, so I am not sure. I will read up on Dunbar, though.
I find these people scary as hell. They're something right of out The Handmaid's Tale.
But on Rubio specifically, I don't really see much evidence that he's actually associated with them.
Wait a minute. Netanyahu is giving a video presentation at this thing???

ETA: If you look on page 3, you'll see that Santorum actually is a confirmed speaker. Which is not really surprising, since we already knew that he was a nutjob. But it is scary that he's a nutjob with a pretty significant amount of support in this country.
I thought Newt Gingrich had started dabbling in this... appointing some Dominionist pastor who thinks his prayers captured Saddam Hussein (lol) to some position in his campaign. I think it was really recent.
This doesn't surprise me. Newt will do anything and everything to score himself political points.
Its a conference, not a wedding. At a conference, being invited speaker is a distinguished thing, and yes, they are speaking. You don't advertise your invited speakers if they aren't going to show.
For example, at a professional conference, the keynote speech is an invited speaker, and its considered an honor to be invited to give a speech at the event. There may be other invited speakers, which are people sought out for theirs opinions/research/knowledge. Compare to a general speaker/presenter. Someone who has applied to be a speaker.
Actually, ignorance is more like advocating freedom of religion...UNLESS you're a politician...and UNLESS you're a Christian. Seriously, what are you so afraid of?
Yes, I read it and the full program. Taking Rubio, specifically. He is on the program. So, you are saying the program is wrong and they put him in a time slot (Day 1, Friday April 20, 6:30-9:00pm) but it didn't happen?
If so, then my apologies. I was not at the conference on Friday, I was sitting on my couch watching Mad Men, so I cannot confirm or deny his attendance, I was just going
Fernane: this country was not founded as a christian nation. Lord almighty, pun intended, do your research. And you are contradicting your self. You said positive things about a group returning the country to a Christian nation, then implied we are against religious freedom. That is the point. Most of us here are pro religious freedom. I'm a Christian. I am not anti Christians. I do, however, want this country to actually allow religious freedom and not become a theocracy.
On another note, I agree with Tef. I know my parents get invited to speak at things all the time. The invitations do not always come from groups they agree with, so they turn them down. An invite == tie to the group.
ALl of us were going off the article which talked about invited speakers. It is obvious by your first post you were too. Thank you for finding this because it actually provides more substance than just being invited, but don't pretend like you were going off of this in your first post. If you had you wouldn't have spent the whole thing talking about invited speakers. The condescension isn't necessary.
100% serious. I haven't heard Captain Obvious in a good while.
The program was linked in the article. I didn't go searching for it - I'm not that motivated (see couch + Mad Men). You are right, I didn't scour it the first time and cross reference the names, but I did glance at it. If someone is going to blast me and assume I didn't read the article, it stands to reason that they would have read it in more detail than I did. I'm not trying to be condescending now, because yes, the "captain obvious" post made me go back and reread the article, the program, the flyer, and such in far more detail wondering what I missed that everyone else thought was so obvious. I'm still thinking I'm missing something.
And while the "professional conference" might not have been the best analogy, I do maintain that an event like this is closer to a conference than a wedding.
eta: I don't mean to imply that I was trying to be condescending before. I wasn't meaning to. And I don't mean to be now, either.
I disagree. http://www.afn.org/~govern/Christian_Nation.html out of our founding fathers' own mouths.
