Re: how important is the driveway/garage to you?
We haven't parked in a garage in 16 years. Right now we have a detached two car garage and a driveway, but we park on the street (it's actually closer to our front door if we park on the street). But we live in an urban neighborhood where driveways aren't common and garages are outright rare.
We moved a few years ago and our garage is still full of boxes. Our goal this summer is to get it cleaned out so we can use half of it as a work space (table saw, etc.) and the other half to park a car if we want. But I still think we'll only park in there if we're out of town.
