Casually styling a maxi dress

I bought my first maxi dress today:

I know this must sound stupid, but I need some suggestions to style it for casual Mommying about. Would a gray & white striped 3/4 length grandfather-style sweater be too much with it? Flats? It comes to below my ankles but won't trip me.

What would you wear with it? It's too cold to wear without a sweater of some kind.

Thanks, those-more-fashionable-than-me.

Re: Casually styling a maxi dress

  • I would do more of a cropped cardigan or even a denim jacket and flats/flat sandals.
  • yeah I would say a cardigan also. The denim jacket is a good idea too. and maybe some simple flats, flipflops, gladiator sandals, or toms. you could make your hair really casual, like maybe try a cute ponytail or messy bun. Just make it comfy and have fun with it :)
