I'm pretty new to cooking, hence slightly afraid to be creative and fail. I have a little over a pound of stew meat that I'd like to use, but not for stew. I was thinking some kind of stir fry? I'm also open to other ideas; I just need some direction. Please advise, ladies. I've learned so much from this board!

in my experience, stew meat is best cooked slowly since (if you bought what I assume is a package of pre-cut meat) it's from all different parts of the cow and may cook differently. Only some meats do well in something like a stir fry so I'd stay away from that.
One thing that I've done that turned out really well was to put in in the crockpot with a little bit of salsa (not too much or it will be watery) and fajita seasoning! I shredded it after cooking on low for 8 hours and made fajitas or tacos and it was great.

As pp said, stew meat is generally best cooked long and slow. It's tougher and has a good amount of fat. So to make it tender, you cook it at a low temp for a long time. I wouldn't recommend it for stir fry.
That being said, you could still use it for chili, or you could make a stew with different flavor compontents (so like - vindaloo, or redang curry, or a tagine or flavored with five spice powder).
