Sewing with nylon, help!

I'm attempting to make some reuseable snack bags, and I can't get it to work with the ripstop nylon lining!

When I turn it inside out to sew up the inside edges (so basically, nylon side out on both sides) I can't get the machine to feed it through at all. I don't have a walking foot, so that's not really an option. Any other tips to help get it through? I'm growing quite frustrated. I know there are other designs I can use so I won't have that problem, but I really want to try out the design I have in my head.

Re: Sewing with nylon, help!

  • Try sandwiching the project in paper- giftwrap tissue works really well, a paper towel should work, too. You can rip it off easily afterwards- but, it will help the feed dogs  and foot move the fabric along. A Teflon foot will help, too- if you have one.
