Hi Girls,
I don't post over here a ton, but felt like I should let you all know that we had to put Debbie Girl down at 10:30 today. She hadn't been wanting to eat. Last night, we made some home cooked dog food thinking that would get her to eat. It did! We were so hopeful that'd she be with us just a little longer. But, after she ate her breakfast this morning, it was clear that cancer had begun to effect her lungs. Her respiration rate was very high and she was really having to struggle to take breaths. We've know this day was coming for a long time. But, my heart is broken today. I don't think there's been a time in my life when I have been more sad. She was the best.
So far Cindy seems okay. She probably just thinks she'll be back later. Thank you for your support over the last months and for helping me think through every step of the journey to hell that is cancer. I appreciate it more than you know.

Re: Debbie lost her battle with cancer today
5 cats. 1 baby.
I'm so sorry!
Lots of T&Ps your way and HUGS, too!
So sorry for your loss...we lost our dog a month ago...it was unexpected
My friend sent me this and it made me feel a little better...so I thought I'd share:
If tears could build a stairway
And memories were a lane
We would walk right up to heaven
... And bring you back again
No farewell words were spoken
No time to say goodbye
You were gone before we knew it
And only God knows why
Our hearts still ache in sadness
And secret tears still flow
What it meant to lose you
No one can ever know
But now we know you want us
To mourn for you no more
To remember all the happy times
Life still has much in store
Since you'll never be forgotten
We pledge to you today
A hallowed place within our hearts
Is where you'll always stay
Take care.
Thank you ladies. Right now, I'm pretty stuck in the anger side of grief. The last year has been very difficult and I feel like I got one final kick from the universe yesterday. It just isn't fair. And, while we knew she was ill, we didn't expect her lungs to be the issue and certainly not so suddenly.
I appreciate your words. They are a comfort during this difficult time.
We'll miss you sweet Debbie Girl (4.21.12) and sweet Cindy Girl (8.9.12)

Oh Katie...my heart breaks for you. I haven't been on here in forever and it's so odd I find myself here today to read about such sad news. I had no idea Debbie had been fighting this battle and I am so sorry about that! I think back years to when your girls, and my Tye, seemed to be just pups!
Although I know it is extremely difficult, take comfort in the fact that you gave your girl a wonderful life including one of the greatest gifts of all...knowing when to let her rest. She is at peace, no suffering and she will keep a place in your heart forever. I also know that there's a handsome blue boy at the bridge who welcomed her with open paws.
Rest well, sweet Debbie.
