Went to SW to stock up during their 40% off sale...

THEY RAN OUT OF PAINT!

Granted, I was buying 20 gallons, but still.  I have to go back on Monday to pick up the rest of my order.  Guess everyone was in there stocking up today.

  • Wow....20 gallons?   I think I could paint my house twice with 20 gallons.

I wanted to go get a few gallons and paint while DH is oot, but I kind of want it to be a surprise and can't figure out how to get the paint today without DH knowing.

  • I'm thoroughly impressed with 20 gallons it is taking 9 to paint our 2600sqft house.

I have a lot of walls and very large rooms LOL. Our house is about 5500 s.f.

18 gallons is just for the upstairs. 2 gallons are because I underestimated how much I was going to need in my kitchen and family room and didn't think I'd need a second coat in either.  Wrong.  Huh?

My DS's, DD's and the Master are all being painted 3 colors each.  The guest room and playroom are 2 colors each.

This haul doesn't even include H's office, the sunroom, foyer and upstairs hallway.  That will probably be another 10 gallons...which I'll buy at the next 40% off sale LOL.  I have enough painting to last me into next month at this point.

Wow, that is a great big house!  Ours is 2750 sq ft and homes 3-4000 are not uncommon around here.  But I always wondered what families do with all that extra space!

so...what, if I may ask, do you do with all the extra space?  I'm just curious.  Maybe it'll inspire me to think outside the box :)

Surprisingly enough, we actually use almost all the "extra space"  and there's really nothing outside the box.

We came out of a 3500 SF/4 BR home and when we built this one, we just added everything we thought the other one was lacking.  It's still a 4 BR, but the rooms are larger and they all have bathrooms/sitting rooms (hence the 3 colors in all the rooms)

We added a playroom for the kids on the upper level (so no more toys/games/kid crap on the main floor), a main floor office for H.  The kitchen is double the size.

So we have all the same spaces...they're all just bigger.

In our last home we always had big plans to finish the basement and add a playroom/office/gym etc.  The time never came.  So when it came to this home, we added everything in the beginning.  If the basement never gets finished (and it probably never will) we have everything we always wanted.

The only room we don't presently use is the sunroom...and that's because I haven't gotten around to decorating it and it's presently empty...except for DDs toys Embarrassed
