Finally getting a Clarisonic! Questions about it . . .

My in laws shop for gifts months ahead of time, and they always ask what we want.  I asked for a Clarisonic Mia for my birthday, which I know they bought, but then I've had to wait for a few months before getting it.  I finally get it tomorrow.  Woot!  Yeah, I get excited easily, lol.

I have skin that is sensitive to products, but not sensitive to exfoliation and also not at all prone to break outs.  I plan to use it with my CeraVe cleanser.  Is it okay to start using it once a day, or should I start out using it every other day?  Should I expect some irritation or break outs at first?  How do you eventually decide how often is best to use it - just trial and error?  Any other tips?

  • I'd say start with it once every other day, and do NOT press down hard on your face. Rather, let it "glide" over your skin.  As time goes by (a week or two?) move to once a day.  Your skin will get used to it and you'll fall in love. I adore mine (fullsized version). And make sure to note the date you start using your brush and replace them regularly.

yup, this!   Also, if you haven't used your derm store GC from myglam yet, you can use it to buy replacement brush heads, that's what I just used mine for!

Ha, ha - I'm actually on Dermstore right now trying to figure out what I want.  That's a good idea!

  • I would start with once every other day. My skin purged oil when I started to use mine and I broke out more, but it went away after a few weeks.
  • I've had mine for just over a year. I was having bad breakouts already so I'm not sure if it caused more or not. I started using it daily right away and can tell if I miss a night. Some days I will use it twice. I'm also using the deep pore brush for it, I feel like it exfoliates much better than the regular brush.
