Help me find a pedestal or mount for sink

Last year, we started to redecorate our house.  We purchased a vessel sink for the half bath off our kitchen (I know vessels are sort of out now, but I really like this one and it will look great with our decor).  We ended up getting sidetracked on other projects and have yet to install it.

Currently we have a white porcelain sink mounted on the wall.  We want to take it out and install this new sink.  The problem is, we can't find anything to put it on.  We only have the vessel and faucet - there is no vanity, it's just a tiny half bath.  I'd hope to find just a solid, thin pedestal, but I can't find just the pedestal - they all have the sink attached (which I don't need).  The new vessel sink is a reddish/gold color. I found some wrought iron wall mounts online, but they seem pricey.  It's a very narrow space, so a cabinet won't fit.  Our new fixtures are oil rubbed bronze.

Any ideas where to find JUST a pedestal, or an inexpensive wall mount?  I'd love to find something under 200 if possible.

Re: Help me find a pedestal or mount for sink

  • Do you need a pedestal or would a wooden column suffice?  One friend made a column for her vessel sink by placing reclaimed 2 x 6s in a u shape then added another plank cut to fit across the top.  She wanted something rustic that would fit her existing rustic style and the sink was at an odd height.   The only difficulty was all the sanding to get the texture smooth.

That's a great idea, and I'm not opposed to making something.  Maybe something along those lines but not rustic - I don't know how to categorize our home's style (especially as it's a major work in progress) but it's not really a rustic/country look.  The sink is Kraus Tiger's Eye Vessel Sink in oil rubbed bronze.

  • Not sure if you'll see this or not, but for our vessel sink I searched forever at thrift stores and on craigslist for a base. I finally found an old sewing machine table at Salvation Army that was the perfect size, and we sanded and stained it and retrofitted it for the sink. Maybe do some searching and see if you can find something that way? I spent $15 on the sewing table and then less than $10 probably on the supplies to sand and stain.
