ugly linoleum help
We have a large foyer- about 8x10 in size. While the flooring is in great shape, it is pretty hideous. It's probably the thing I want to change most, but since we are in debt payoff mode, we can't afford to tile it right now like we would like to in the future. So, I would like to ask you wonderful ladies- should be paint it (I think I have seen linoleum paint) or just leave it as if for a year and tile it later. I trust you girls.

Re: ugly linoleum help
Is it actually linoleum or is it vinyl? This will affect my answer. We had ugly stained vinyl in my kids bath and I painted it with good results. However this is a low traffic area and generally people are not wearing shoes in an upstairs bath.
From your picture it looks like a high traffic area, which would really wear on the paint. Also, from the picture it looks like there are indented lines in your floor, these will probably look funny when painted. My floor had a all over texture but no lines, so it looks a little better painted.
If I were you I'd look for an area rug or runner to disguise the floor instead.
I'd just leave it.
I don't think it's half bad actually and the way you decorated around it, makes it look acceptable for the time being/blends in.
I've seen much much worse.
I'd buy a rug you love and call it a day.
I think it's original to the house, so 1987.
And I am completely not sure about whether it's vinyl or linoleum now. Whoops!
Thanks for the ideas about a rug- I will definitely do that because I have one that would work!

A year will fly by in no time and you'll be ready to redo it once and for all.
