Craigslist find
I only really need a long dresser for my daughter but I found this listing on Craigslist. $150 for a desk w/ hutch, chair, dresser and chest of drawers. Obviously it would need work done (a la painting it). I think it has potential though. *sigh*

I would go snatch that up and worry about what to do with the rest later!
I had a similiar set as a child which my Mom still has. I want it for Rubes in the worst way 1985 flowers and all.
The paint on mine is fine but the edges are pretty chipped..and I don't think there's much fix to that.
Snatch it up, ESPECIALLY if it's real wood. When we got new bedroom furniture a few years ago, we passed it on to our nephew who uses it now. It's 9 so he uses the desk for homework and building lego starships (I think that's what they're called) and it looks great still.

That is a great set from the photos.
Can you put the desk and long dresser in her room and then use the tall dresser in a guest room or something? I wouldn't worry about keeping the set together, esp if you're going to paint it.
