Cleaners that leave granite clean & SHINY?

I know this has been asked before, but bear with me.

My new countertops are black granite. They are (supposedly) permanently sealed. I want to keep them looking new and glossy.

So far, the best thing seems to be water and dish detergent, then wipe dry with paper towels. That leaves my granite beautifully clean and very shiny.

Windex leaves them dull (I was very surprised by this)!

I recently got Method Granite Wipes, and they are AWFUL. They leave a thick, milky haze on the countertops.

  • I mix mint scented rubbing alcohol with water, 50/50.  For daily cleanup I use a papertowel.  If I want to spiff them up I use a soft cloth.
  • I am surprised by the Method wipes because I love the spray.

  • I like Granite Gold.  I buy it at the grocery store for probably $7-8.  They have a daily cleaner and a polish that they recommend using once a week.  I have only used the daily cleaner, and it works great.

They also make a sealer, but I have never seen that in a grocery store. It might only be available at HD or Lowe's, or somewhere like that. They recommend using that once or twice a year.

  • I have the method granite spray which i like.  the other thing our builder used was Sparkle, it is purple.  They sell it at Lowe's, I know.  I can't remember seeing it at Target.  Our builder swears by it.

  • Have you tried those Norwex rags? My mom got me some for Christmas and they work AWESOME - Plus you don't have to buy any products etc... I'm not sure what they are called but it's a set and it's a purple one and a blue one - (one is the polisher and one is the cleaner) You only literally put water on them to use. They are amazing, good for the earth, and cheap since you do not have to keep buying products when you run out! You can also use these same cloths on windows and stainless steal - it does all of ours awesome! good luck!

I have something similar but a different name and I joke with my MIL that I want to do an infomercial for them.  We use them on the stainless and I rarely have prints it keeps our polishing of the stainless way down. They are the only thing they I use on my blacktop stove and keeps it from looking streaked and don?t get me started on glass.  I Just LOVE LOVE LOVE them.

  • I use microfiber cloths and warm water first, then sanitize with 50/50 rubbing alcohol/water in a spray bottle.  Then I use a dry microfiber cloth to rub them dry.  Works like a charm.
