Your house that is.
I know YHL tries. We all do.
I'm always interested to see what little, cheap projects nesties do to class up their house.
Here's mine:
We finally got our steps trimmed out with quarter round. Looks 100xs better.
I'm on a matching storage basket kick (those dark "worldstock" ones from Target). The big round ones are great. I have one at each entry, 1 in the playroom and 1 in the LR.
I'm not keeping any drinkware that doesn't coordinate. I have tons of cute stuff might as well use it. I have no need for a cup that says, "Joe Smiths Event" on it.
I have been hanging as much out on the line as I can. I love the smell of air-dryed clothes! Clean blankets/bedding/rugs also makes my house smell fresh.
I've been playing with mix and match bedding based on what I have. I have tons. I don't need more but I get bored easily. I've had some epic fails (The stripes and florals in the guestroom) and a huge win (a colored block quilt and C*B Samovarri bedding mixed). Whatever..it's only bedding...change it out next time I wash the sheets.
I dug up my crappy flower bed that has a layer of gravel under it and it's in direct sun so nothing grows...we threw some rock over it instead. I actually like the plain (I'm not much of a gardener) but I want two big whiskey barrels to stick in there.
That's all I got....:) What have you done? I like the inspiration!
Re: S/O YHL: What little things have you done to spruce up?
Organized closest always make me smile. We just recently re-did the one in the office so the guest room one will be empty for when it's a future nursery.
I just got rid of cups/waterbottles, etc from the top shelf of a cabinet that I can't even reach. Thankfully my sister is moving into her own place, so she was more than happy to take our cast-offs.

I have the bulbs for plants that haven't come up yet (stupid bulbs!!).
We've been repainting the walls.
Most of our "little things" are things we're doing to try to sell the house, so hopefully it's not for nothing.

Hmm.
I spray painted the brackets that hold our banister up. From brass with drips of stain:

to ORB:

We added crown molding to the foyer and chair rail to the foyer, staircase, and upstairs landing, which I've AW'ed recently.
We're also going to be working on landscaping slowly over the next few months/years. We have a friend who's a landscape architect, and he drew up a plan for the yard. Now we need to implement. Right now the gardens look pretty messy and unplanned.
Every spring I come up with new bedding coordinates based off of what I have. I LOVE to do it!
I've been switching around pictures in my house.. just for fun.
I made a small gallery wall in my hallway for some more character. Kind of too scared to share it here.... because it's nothing too special, and I don't want to hear the "it looks ok.. but...." . I like it anyways.
I have all wood floors- so lots of rugs. I love to change them around with the changing of seasons!
I want to see! Slap up a pic! I love pictures of people's normal projects in a normal house that aren't all photo edited or enhanced for blog purposes!
Slowly attempting a gallery wall above our couch, so far just a small chalkboard on a big ol' wall. I need to pick out some pics and have them put on canvas.
I just received my Silhouette Cameo in the mail over the weekend, I can't wait to see what fun projects I can come up with. I think I'll attempt something on canvas for my first one.
DH painted some wall shelves white from black and now I need to figure out what to do with the kitchen table since it's black, hmmmm.........Small projects are turning into big projects.
I recently did a gallery wall in our stairwell too. I used frames that we had already and only had to buy a couple small ones to fill in the gaps.
I painted our laundry room (with free paint from work) and painted a free cabinet I got from a client for DH to hang in the laundry room. It made a HUGE difference! Been waiting to fully finish the laundry room before I share on here (I need to install two shelves, cabinet door pulls, and then the room is done!).
Ok. OK.
Really, nothing special. It's a tiny, 4 foot long wall. Doesn't have room for much, but I was really glad to add my own touch to it. Small note, I'm single and have a roomate, so I don't decorate most of my house "personal" with pictures/ art and stuff. It kinda sucks because I'd love to, but also don't want to make my roomate feel not at home or something since I own the home and do all the decor.
Here's what it started as. It was art work from my photog cousin. Pics from San Fransisco, a city my dad grew up in and i love... but I wanted something more personal.
That pic is actually sideways- don't know why it won't turn for me!
I ended up doing 6 pics in somewhat of a gallery to make this:
I like it, I know it's not perfect and is really simple. But I think it's personalized and cute. Top left is a drawing by my bf of his initials (drew it with my niece haha). Top middle says "The secret to having it all is knowing you already do." Top right is a card that says "She was perfectly happy being exceptional; and she didn't mind telling him about it either." Bottom left is a card from church with a few favorite bible verses. Bottom middle is a really cute card that has a cute pattern on the front and says 'thank you'. Bottom right is a favorite piece of fabric.
There is it.. my kind of lame gallery wall. thanks for talking me into it Dairy.
Awww...it's cute. What a great use of that space. I tend to lean to the more simple..so I really appreciate it. I like how's personal too withough 800 AW pictures screaming "look how great I am." LOL. Very real. I dig it. Afterall, very few people have the time, space or desire to dust a 12 ft photowall with 600 pictures personall hand selected throughout the ages in hand carved spray painted frames artfully found after 230 Saturdays at the flea market!
I rearranged my bedroom. Swapped out some rugs. Bought a new fancy candle.
I have been refinishing a mcm record cabinet too. Fun stuff!
I, much like YHL, have a closet with decor that gets rotated in and out. When i'm tired of something, I look in there for a change. It's free!
I have an area rug obsession. And throws. And throw pillows. When I get bored, I change them up. I do try and buy pillow covers that are removable so I only have to change out the cover, not the whole pillow. Storing pillows would take up too much room.
I use baby wipes to clean off my walls/trim/kitchen cabinets once a week. I think fresh paint makes the house look cleaner. It may be my pregnant self though.
Gardening. I think a pristine garden makes the curb appeal HUGE. Even if it's just some cheap flowers in a pot, and alot of pots put together... it doesn't have to be expensive. I like random and colorful.

I have been working on making a large chalkboard for my kitchen out of an old picture that no longer matches my decor plus the glass was broken. I am going with an orangey-red for the frame to help bring in a pop of color. I also finally bought drapes for the doorwall in my kitchen.
I added some hooks by my backdoor/basement stairs for coats and bags so everyone will stop turning my kitchen table into a mudroom.
Most of our efforts have gone into our basement remodel that is currently 6 months over our timeline..
I like it! I was about to comment with a .....Umm Ma'am your pictures are hung sideways, you might want to look into that
I'm trying to piece together a photo wall in our office so I can incorporate my degree.
We have family coming in June right after I get back from a trade show so we have made a list of "Must complete by ____" to get the house in shape.
