Can I ask a question about nurseries? We're Team Green!!

Hi All:

So I'm NOT a decorating and renovating expert at all. in fact, I look at people's pins and think "I would love to do that". So I'm hoping I can lean on all of your help a little bit.

We have a huge space for a nursery and it will be our baby #2. It's a bit of cart before the horse because I'm first tri and nervous after my losses but I'd like to fuel some of my nerves into excitment.

DS' nusery was very lovely but very bland. We moved so it was really only the bedding that had a "theme" and the walls were very plain.

With DC#2 we'll be Team Green but I'd like to use sort of a neutral wall and nursery with a pop of either light blue or pink! What do you think? Can anyone give me ideas? I was thinking maybe gray walls with white accents and a pop of pink or blue in the bedding. Even lilac if it's a girl. But I find that's common now. That sort of "shabby chic" look. .

I'm just looking for inventive ideas on colour schemes or ways to do a neutral theme and add in some gendered colours after. I just don't like beiges or yellows.

Basically I'd like the room to be done before the bean gets here but to buy the bedding after it's arrival.

Here are some of my thoughts:

Here's some of the funiture that will be in there:

  • I like grays, provided the room has ample natural light-- otherwise it looks depressing to me... And bright white trim makes it look so crisp... Also, maybe an icy blue, like the pic below from PBK, which can be girl-ed or boy-ed up with accents, taking it in a very girlish or boyish direction, without being too neutral at the outset. Green can also be great, and it really (obviously) depends on what style you truly want.

Keep looking at the pins, PB Kids, Rosenberry Rooms, PoshTots, etc, and I'm sure you'll fine-tune what you want in no time! Have fun!

  • Well just to throw out another idea, my sister is not finding out the gender and she did her nursery in a "peacock" theme. There is a chair rail with the upper part painted a nice tan and the lower part a deep teal. The accents are a bright jewel tone green and the furniture is a dark brown. It is a beautiful room for a girl or a boy and it's a change from the usual yellow/green.

  • I agree, gray walls accented by bright blues and pinks is an awesome idea. Match that with some nursery wall decals and you'll be all set! Congratulations and good luck!
