DC Restaurant Recs?

My mom and I will be in DC for a long weekend next month, and I'm looking for some good dinner places. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! :)

Re: DC Restaurant Recs?

  • What kind of food and budget are you thinking?  DC has pretty much everything, so you need to narrow it down.  Also, any particular parts of town?

  • I am a big fan of Restaurant Eve in Old Town Alexandria and Zatinya in DC.  Other restaurants that are popular are Rasika (Indian), Jaleo (tapas), Citronelle, Cityzen, and Komi.  There are lots of good places to eat in DC though.

    This might help:

  • Rasika ($$$)

    Ben's Chili Bowl ($)

La Tasca ($$, I prefer it to Jaleo)

    Luigi's ($-$$)

    1789 ($$$)

    Matchbox ($$)

    Montmartre  ($$-$$$)

  • If you are in Arlington at all my favorite Mexican restaurant was Guapos
  • I forgot Loriol Plaza ($$) - amazing margs and salsa
  • Co Co Sala is an awesome chocolate-themed restaurant. They have sweet and savory dishes that incorporate chocolate.  I believe they have a pre-fixe brunch menu for about $20 that is excellent.
  • Ben's Chili Bowl is a must. Definitely not fancy, but good food!

We are staying right by the New York Ave Metro stop, so getting around won't be a problem.  I don't want anything super fancy but am willing to pay for good food.

  • The aformentioned: Zaytinya, Restaurant Eve, Cityzen

The new: Proof, Filomina, Oyamel (only for the adventurous) and Vapiano

If you're looking for more casual, Matchbox is a good choice, as would be Jaleo (which I prefer to La Tosca)

Brunch is a big thing in DC and I am personally obsessed with Georgia Brown's (deep south) and Jaleo has good brunch tapas
