Has anyone done the 30 Day Shred?

Re: Has anyone done the 30 Day Shred?

  • I've done it, but not for 30 days.  I like it.  It's short, so I pop it in if I need a quick workout and don't feel like going to the gym.

  • I have not done it 30 days consecutively, but I do think it's an easy and quick way to squeeze in a semi decent workout.

  • I think it is a great bang for your buck workout if you are short on time. I am planning to do it during my maternity leave once I recover from my c section.

Regardless of how in shape I am I am always dripping sweat and tired when I finish it.

  • I've done it. It's not very good for weight loss (if that is your goal) because it doesn't burn a ton of calories, but it is really good for strengh training and toning.
Always be yourself. Unless you suck.
  • I have it and I actually don't  mind it.  I've also never done it for the 30 days consecutively but I like it for when I don't feel like going to the gym or want to do something that has more ab/strength components (I do mostly cardio at the gym).

  • I know some people roll their eyes at it, but I did it before my wedding and it really did work. I did it about every other day and did about 10 workouts at each level before moving to the next one. It's a good workout if you don't like to take more than 30 min to workout. Once you get the gist of each level, I recommend muting it and listening to your own music. Jillian gets a little annoying.

It's not something I could make a rest of my life routine, but it's good if you have a specific goal in mind and can then do other stuff to maintain so you don't get bored.

  • I did this to get back into the workout routine after having my son. I think it's a great program- short but challenging. And you can always mute Jillian Michaels.

Plus, my H is always excited when I do it so he can sit back and watch Anita. Confused

I will say though, I like her No More Trouble Zones DVD better.

  • Well, I need to lose weight and tone.

But I don't have a lot of time in my day. H and I were talking last night about alternating days to run or something so we can both get in shape. I was thinking this would be good to fit in at home most nights - I can spare 1/2 hour. But not if it's not going to work! I love my Zumba for PS3, but I don't think it's doing anything for me.

  • I think if you have other days of just cardio that will definitely help with the weight loss. I didn't do anything extra and lost almost 10 pounds. I also gave up soda completely as well which probably had a lot to do with it since I was drinking It a LOT before then.

  • I just started it last night. Like you, I have very minimal time available to work out, but I can manage to squeeze in 30 minutes at home. I liked it - I'm pretty out of shape right now so I found it challenging but not too much so.

A lot of my friends used it as a way to shed a few pounds before their weddings and were very satisfied, so I'm going to try to stick with it the full 30 days and hopefully it will jump start my weight loss (I need to lose quite a bit.)

  • Have you ever worked out with a kettle-bell? It's kind of a combination between light weight lifting and cardio.

You can get a 7lb kettle-bell at Target with a 30 minute workout dvd for like 25 bucks. It did wonders in terms of toning and weight loss whenever I kept up with it several times a week.

  • I think 30 DS is a great starting point Jaylea. Don't do what I do, which is try to get this grand idea of how I am going to jumpstart a workout, fail at it because I don't have the time for this uber grand idea, then just give up all together. Baby steps are key. Start off with 30 minutes a day of something. It doesn't have to be amazing just something. Then you might see some results, you will feel good about them and might be willing to devote more time. So I say you go girlfriend!
  • I really love it. I've been doing it on and off for years and always see results. It doesn't transform my body but it does tone me up and build muscle. I also use 3, 5 and 8 lb weights because I've found some exercises, I need more weight to feel it.

Now when I do it, I also do 30 minutes of cardio at the gym. On days I don't do it, I do 45-60 minutes of cardio. I think it's a great supplement to a beginning workout, but like eddy said, start off will small goals if you don't have a lot of time.

  • I do it on days I can't make it to CrossFit. I would recommend doing at least an 8lb weight if not 10. Also, if you stick with it I think level 2 is much better than level 1.

  • My cousin who is a trainer/owns his own gym/former bodybuilder gave it the thumbs up, so I think I'll give it a shot.

  • I got it, and started it. I found it very hard, as I was very out of shape. If you have bad knees or anything, you won't be able to do about half the workout.
    Oh, FFS.
