MOH speech

I have to give my first one in a couple of weeks.

Has anyone given one before? My main question is...am I supposed to toast the bride and groom, or leave that to the best man?

Any other tips are appreciated!:)

Re: MOH speech

  • Every wedding I've been to/been a part of, both the MOH and BM toast the B & G

  • I was MOH for my sister, so for my speech, I started with a little story about the two of them when they first started dating, how much I've enjoyed getting to know BIL and how happy I was to see how good he is for my sister, which segwayed into more focused story on my sister, and ended with a toast to them and their future. I definitely don't think you have to leave it just to the best man, and I think its almost the point of the speech to toast to the couple, so it would almost seem weird not to do it.
  • I haven't written one myself, but I'd pretty much follow zane's advice. I like speeches that address the couple, but also share some inside stories about the bride (or groom, whichever the toaster is closer to). I would definitely toast to the bride and groom at the end.
  • Never been a bridesmaid, let alone a MOH, but every wedding I've been to has had the MOH and BM toast.  I think zane had the right of it... good luck!
