What do you put on the back of your toilet?

I've always had something on the back of the toilet in our guest bathroom and I'd like to change it up, right now it's a bowl with pot pourri in it, any creative ideas for what to put on the back of a guest toilet?

Re: What do you put on the back of your toilet?

  • I don't really have anything on the back of ours. It never stays and I don't want to clean.

The guest bathroom has the tissue box. A bit gross but it's the only place for it..and two college aged boys are currently using it so gross doesn't bother them..lol.

In our master once in awhile I put a reed diffuser in a pretty bottle on the back. At Christmas I usually put an amaryliss there...the toilet is right under the window it happens to grow the best.

  • We have a box of tissues in a cover that matches the containers on our counter tops. Above that is a towel rack and above the towels is a framed picture.
  • I have a dark, oval basket with linen liner that holds extra TP.

  • just a tissue box.
  • Usually nothing, but once and a while I'll put a house plant there.

  • Sadly all my toilets have wipes on the back of them - and usually one or two diapers in case my little one needs a change. If I ever had a nice guest suite, I'd want to keep it simple and clean. So assuming I had another spot for a candle or tissues, I'd not put anything on there.

  • Dust, mostly.  Stick out tongue

As a guest, I've seen everything from the tissue box (semi-ewww) to baskets with "clean" towels ro fresh toiletries ... but these things all seem like they shouldn't be so close to the mount vesuvius of germs that comes out of a flush toilet, so it's never occurred to me to put anything on the back of the toilet.

Dont you all close the lid before you flush? Our vanity is next to the toilet so I don't see a difference.

  • We have zero countertop space in our bathroom and the walls are completely tiled so we can't hang any shelves (it's a rental and we don't want to drill holes in the tile).

So the back of the toilet became counter top space:

We have a tissue box on the back of our half bath (mostly company uses it) and while I never thought about it, yes that is pretty gross lol!

Same here. I've never really thought about it but I guess our tissue box on the back of the toilet is kind of eww! I'll never look at it the same way again.

We do.  But not everyone does.  And I can't count on my guests putting the lid down before they flush since I'm not in there with them.  So I prefer to keep extra toiletries in a basket under the sink, the tissue box in the guest bedroom, and extra towels in the linen closet.  I realize that this doesn't work for everyone due to space concerns, but it works for us.

  • I don't have anything there right now.

  • a small basket of hand towels and a candle
  • The garbage can.

Originally to keep dogs from getting to nosy with it. Then because it's less tempting for little hands to find treasures in there if they can't see in it to begin with. And now just because it belongs there. Does it count as decor if it's a somewhat decorative metal trashcan?

  • A basket with extra TP. Our vanities are TINY so there's no room inside for extra TP.
  • Box of wet wipes.  Would like to say that they are for our LOs but DH may have a small addiction....
