what to do with the rings

I know a few people on here have sold their rings and I'm wondering what is the best way to go.  I gave the engagement ring with the big diamond back since it was a family heirloom.  But I still have the two bands that went on either side.  They are white gold with three small diamonds.  I think we paid like $500 a piece, so I'm sure I won't get much for them. Is my best bet to take them to a We buy gold/silver type place? I really have no idea what my best bet is going to be.

I used craigslist, I still had the paperwork from them so I got almost as much as we put into them from someone who didn't really know what he was doing. I felt like the We Buy Gold places were just going to screw me over

I wear my eternity diamond band still as my right hand ring.  It is really thin but so sparkly.  I would hate to part with it because I love wearing it.  Is this bad? lol?

 

As for my engagement ring, it was a small diamond on a very thin white gold band.  I don't wear it and I am not sure what to do with it either.

Mine don't have much value, but the diamond is very pretty. So I'm saving them and will make a piece of jewelry out of them for my niece when she graduates high school.

I gave mine back to my jeweler (she's a diamond broker) to sell direct to another buyer or broker.  I also gave her some gold I had and she sold that for me ($2100 for several pieces!)

My rings are taking a while to sell because of their size and value but I'm in no rush and my jeweler is a family friend who is pushing for the best price for me.

Depending on where you purchased them, they could potentially help you get money for them either by selling them for you, or sending them to an appraiser and getting a value for you. My jeweler sent my bands to a company called Circa I think, which valued it and gave me an offer. It was really low, so I didn't take it, but that's an option.

Sold my engagement ring and diamond to a guy on Craigs List who was about to propose to his GF. Got more than half of what the value of the ring was, and to me, that was worth it to get it off my hands and be done with it. I honestly didn't think that I would get half of what was paid for it, so I was pleasantly surprised. Plus it was sound money to me. My ex paid for it, obviously, so it was just free money to me.

I have a pendant, my e-ring, my wedding band (channel-set diamonds), and a pair of earrings that were all purchased at the same local jeweler, and I am going to take them back there and see what kind of trade-in value I can get for them. One of my closest friends has a person she works with exclusively at this jeweler, and I have met her several times when I have been there with her, so I am hoping that she will be able to give me a good deal. Two of the pieces are estate jewelry, so I am sure that they will place them back up for sale. I am hoping to get a nice right hand ring out of the deal.

The diamond from the e-ring is on consignment from the jeweler my XH bought it from. It's been there since the fall. However, he said he could get a good price for it. If we sell it elsewhere it would be a couple thousand or more less than what we would get at the jeweler.

Since XH's and my rings were cheapo sterling silver affairs with an engraved message, I've saved them for our daughter, in case she happens to want them when she's older. If I'd gotten a diamond out of him, I totally would have sold it to a broker.
