Which dishes do you like better? Poll.

H is buying me new dishes for my birthday.

I'm torn between these two.

A. Is more fun/trendy/bright/cutesy. Something I would totally pick out. My kitchen is pretty black and white at the moment, so I like the splash. Green is also my very favorite color in the world so I'm not worried about getting sick of it. I do wish the pattern on the big plates and salad plates were reversed but whatever...no big deal. These are porcelain.

B. I love because it's plain, simple but yet a bit edgy. Classy but still somewhat fun. However, I do feel like they're a bit boring and I may get sick of them faster. They are porcelain. I hate the way the coffee cups look, but again NBD.

These will be my only dishes. We do not do sit down dinner parties very often and if we do they are by no means high end. We're very casual, so the ability to go formal isn't all that important to me. For real if I have more than 8 people over I'm more worried about patterend paper plates to pick out in Target. ;)

[Poll]

  • I would do the plainer dishes, but have some fun serving pieces in your fave colors.

Yeah, the problem is and I should've mentioned, my servingware is great! A lot of black, white, red and crystal that were wedding gifts from my Aunts and I'm not willing to get rid of it for something more fun as it is pretty sentimental. It'd be really classy with the swirl, but fun with the curly cue! Basically, whatever I have matches either or!

    Decisions, Decisions!

  • Oh that does make it harder!
  • I LOVEEEEEE the green, and like you it is my very favorite color, especially the shade that you showed.

I also have a few pieces of Rachel Rays stuff and its solid, I like it.

  • I like the green pattern better, but I'm afraid I'd get tired of it.

How would you feel about something like this:

It comes in black & white instead of gray & white too, as well as several other variations on a theme:

Those are all by Martha Stewart at Macy's.

  • That green is so fun and festive. How nice for him to get you new dishes!

I say you only live once so get the ones you are most excited about :)

Hmmmm.....I like where you're headed this. **Searches farther into this.**

My problem is I love bold graphic patterns, but I get really really tired fo florals. fast. I want to like them but they're just not for me apparently.

  • Green. Option B seems very 1990's to me...maybe it's the photo.
  • LOL. Apparently this poll is unanimous!

I did buy the green ones. They're on Overstock and I had a coupon. $271.00 for 16 place settings. I plan to put 12 in the cupboard and put 1 away so I have
replacements when the ineveitable break happens!

Good options. These might work better with the serving items you already have but I do really like the green as well. It's so bright and festive!

  • Speaking from a culinary standpoint- you want the white dishes with the little bit of swirl because if you ever make anything green- it will dissappear on green dishes. Also- green is an appetite depressing color (cool color spectrum) and it sounds like if you combine the green dishes with the red and black and crystal servingware- it will be in the Christmas color combination.

Therefore the white wins out by design.

Although personally I would say SCREW IT and get what makes my heart happy even if it clashes the design.
