Anyone have invisalign?

I've always had very straight teeth until I got my wisdom teeth out. Now my two front teeth are starting to look snaggly. I never had braces before, but think I might be a good candidate for invisalign since they aren't too bad. Just bad enough to bother me and I'm sure they'll keep moving if I dont fix them.

So, how bad were your teeth? How much did thy cost and how long did you have them? There is a living social deal now for $40 or $50 and you get like $1,000 towards invisalign so I'm thinking they are way more than that.

Woah, seriously re: the living social deal??

I have two teeth in the front that are set back just a bit further than the rest and it drives me insane. I've been contemplating invisalign for years to correct it.

    I like privacy. A lot.
  • Yep, just saw the email today. It's for a dentist in tinley park

  • I'm pretty sure there is a gal on MM who had/has them, so maybe try xp'ing there?

  • I had invisalign.  LOVED IT.  I had a small gap in the front top and crowding on the bottom.  I want to say cost-wise it was around $4500....my insurance covered part of it.  ($2000 I think).  It was so worth it.  You may be able to get away with "insalign lite" which is basically a shorter time frame with more of a cosmetic fix than a "bite" fix.  But I want to say it was only like $1000 less for that.  What I love the most is that if I'm lame (which I am) and forget to wear my retainer (which I do) I can always put my last tray in to realign everything.

  • I love the results I got from my Invisalign. But, I have to add the cons.

Growing up I only ever had 2 cavities and they were on my 12 year molars and it was when I was around 16. I paid for my Invisalign out of pocket and all together with wisdom tooth extractions (all 4) I think I paid $8,000. So, now it has been roughly 6 years since I've been in my retainer. This year I had 7 cavities filled all on my remaining back 4 molars. And my luck, I had the filling from when I was 16 crack weeks after my other fillings (not the same tooth as any other fillings) so I got 8 fillings this year.

I have really healthy teeth and take good care of them yet I had 7 cavities. Upon googling I found this can be a common occurrence with them.

I also have jaw pain on one side now. It didn't develop until 5 years into being in my retainers. But I do feel like the final outcome of my teeth was great. The alignment of my teeth are bit off so I need to get a 2nd opinion and see if I need braces again to fix this. The jaw popping is bad and I can't chew gum, beef jerky, any thick meats, etc. I can't have a large sucker even bc it's uncomfortable to open my mouth so much.

Buuuut, I love my smile. I'd do it all again. I had an over bite and gaps on my top 4 teeth and narrowing of my lower teeth.

  • hmmm...it's really just my two front teeth that are starting to overlap a bit (one seems to be moving forward) and the rest are pretty straight. The bottom teeth are fine. Maybe I'll see about a consultation, but I'd hate to pass up the living social deal.

I don't think our dental insurance would cover much. I paid more OOP for a crown than to have both babies.
