I just cried all over an admissions director

ds1 did not get a merit award for the school he wants to go to (despite meeting all effing criteria and then some besides). So I told our school college counselor, and she asked if she could call admissions for us. I said sure. She called. Said she told the director about our kid,  how grand he was. He pulled up ds1s application; looked at it, said this kid is incredible, why have we not made an offer to him? and called fin. aid. and told them to reconsider his award.

So then he sent me an email asking me to call him and I did; and he told me this and I started crying.

this has been a really, really up and down week.

  • I'm so happy for him and you too. :)  It sounds like your kids work so hard and it is nice to see them get recognition for it.

  • I care a lot about the money, since we have two brilliant kids, not one, and they both need to get through school, not just one, and we'll have two in college at the same time for two years so PLEASE. Throw us some money. We have some savings; we have some grants; you don't have to do a full ride though that would be nice and it's what you were telling us it would be, people; just enough so I can get both boys through.

It was just that he wanted this particular school so much. And to have no award there, we could not afford that much. He was shattered. He works so hard. We've killed ourselves some years paying that private school tuition so they'd have access to the better schools. I was shattered. This all happened between yesterday and today, too, along with the brothers' cancer diagnoses. I can't quit sobbing off and on.

     OH PLEASE. Some extra cash.

  • Mom calling up crying will certainly make him stand out from the other students.  Will you do the same after his first few job interviews?

Do you have reading comprehension issues? He requested the phone call. He shared the promising news with her. She cried when she realized there was still hope.

At least be a smart troll, FFS!
