My mother is killing me
We took over her finances last August because she was in a mess. Pay day loans, 401k loan, using her overdraft protection like a loan, starting payday barely in the black, wages being garnished, etc. We dug her out of the hole, got her back in the black, and have been slowly but surely paying off outstanding debts. She's been doing a great job living on the very meager "allowance" that we have for her in the budget.
This week she lays it on me that she hasn't paid taxes since 2008. 
If she doesn't go bankrupt or land in jail it'll be a miracle.

Agreed, what a nice daughter you are to handle this, and with a young one to keep you busy! It's time to show that tough love. We all have to be the parents at some point. You both will get thru it. Take it easy!
I track every dollar we earn and spend so we understand where it goes. I can't say I've always been decent with finances. I had to learn the hard way by swallowing my pride and asking and accepting help. Good luck! And breathe.

It is not. A relative did the same thing and owed around $60k total and they sureasshit came after him and his wages are being garnished and they put a lien on his bank account. It really does happen.
