Granite or Caeserstone?

Which do you prefer for a kitchen and why? I'm leaning towards Ceasarstone for the kitchen in our new build but have never had granite and wondering if I'm missing out on something awesome. :-)

Re: Granite or Caeserstone?

  • Granite is a natural stone and therefore has a more natural movement.  If you want heavy veining or you want the countertops to be the star of the show that is what people tend to go for.  Others consider granite as on it's way out of popular kitchen design and quartz as the new leader.  Quartz is more uniform and has small flecks of color.  It costs more than the low end granite but there are many granite slabs that cost more than quartz.  There are lots of other brands of quartz that are less than Caesarstone.  Caesarstone is one of the most expensive quartz brands out there...that said I love their color options the best and we're using a slab of Oyster for our master bath.  : )

The biggest benefit to quartz in my opinion is that it's stainproof, never needs to be sealed, won't etch, won't be harmed by hot pans, and is much less likely to chip.  It's as maintenance free as you can get!  No need to worry about spilled oil, red wine, tomato sauce, or orange juice on quartz.  Plus with quartz you can use whatever cleaner you want.  Granite requires a pH neutral cleaner which few cleaners are.
