For those that have installed tile before. Sealing prior to grout?
H and I finally chose a tile and are installing our backsplash next week. We're going with a 2.5x5 subway tile that has a craquele finish. The manufacturer recommends sealing the tile before using colored grout.
Can anyone recommend a decent tile sealer that I can use?
Re: For those that have installed tile before. Sealing prior to grout?
Yes definitely seal cracked finish tile before grouting. Also be very careful to get all of the grout out of the little lines in the finish before it dries. I think almost any sealer could work for this application because it's a one time shot. You're not sealing it to keep anything clean...remember you still should seal the grout after you apply that and it's easier to seal the tile + grout so there will be another sealer on top of that. But you'll probably only want to have to buy one product for both uses. People on the GardenWeb recommend these:
Aquamix Sealers Choice Gold
Miracle 511 Impregnator
Stone Tech Impregnator Pro
STT's SB sealer (Deluxe)
Dupont Deluxe
