S/o confederate flags.... A flameful
My mother, who was born and raised in PA, has a confederate flag tattooed on her. She met her now husband and within 2 months they decided it was a smart idea to get their names tattooed on each other. He's from the south, all into its history, so the letters in his name are filled with the banners and stars.
And it's on her chest.
And she's 50.
I could not be more embarrassed.

I'm not anti-tattoo AT ALL. Just bad ones!

The weird thing is our relationship is actually pretty great, considering. I vent here to get out my frustrations sometimes, but I've never said any of that to her.
The part that really gets me is that she's really smart! Like, full ride to college where she double majored and still finished in 3 years with honors, smart. Which tells me she's just pretending to not see why this is offensive. Which is woRse

I grew up in a small town in Oregon, and the confederate flag was really popular among the forestry kids in high school. They all had it hanging in the back of their trucks, got tattoos, wore shirts with it on them, etc. They got all offended and up in arms when someone finally complained and the administration banned the confederate flag on school grounds.
And yes, they all knew what it meant. They just kept claiming that it didn't actually mean what everything says it does. After all, it's history. You know, history that it important and meaningful in a small town in Oregon. And not offensive at all.

I'm sorry your mom came down with a case of the BSC. Here I was thinking my mom does stupid things for men, but AFAIK she hasn't had ink done, much less very regrettable ink done, for any of them.
