RE license ?

Getting my license and wondering what school is better Kaplan or VanEd?  VanEd is cheaper right by $100 and the exam prep is included unlike Kaplan.  Any help would be grately appreciated!

Re: RE license ?

  • There's likely local brokers that operate real estate schools... have you checked any of those out? That's how I went about getting my license.

I didn't need the exam prep class, but I did buy an exam prep book and drilled on the sample questions. In my area, it's called the "cram" class, it's 2 days and it's like $200. No thanks!

  • There are state differences in how to go about getting licensed. I would speak to your local real estate board and possibly some broker offices to get a feel for how it's done where you are located.
  • I'm in CO and most of the new agents and brokerages I have talked to take the classes online.  There are classed in Denver, but that would be too far away for me to drive everyday.   I was hoping someone on here would have experience with these schools and give me some tips.  BTW, the 2 companies I talked to said they are both great, but just want more opinions from those who have used them recently.  TIA
  • You might also want to post this on your local board as each state has different requirements for classes. Some allow you to take classes online and other states you have to attend in person. Also number of class hours differ depending on what state you are in.

I took classes directly at our state's realtor association offices. I also had to be sponsored by a real estate broker, which was easy since DH is a broker.

    Good luck with your classes.

  • I got mine through my local Weichert office years ago. And if you went through their 6 month training program after you were licensed they paid you back for your classes. Most community colleges offer the classes as well
