Avoiding a bundle of joy for a while!
So,
my hubbs and I haven't even been married a year yet. We have decided we would like to wait a while before we have kids, I mean, we ave PLENTY OF TIME! Im 20 and hes 23 so we're in NO rush! Let me start by saying we use a condom EVERYTIME but I also want to be on some sort of contraception as well, like a back up- I have talked to my Dr. He has put me on 3 different types of BC but they all have had side effects of Nausiated feelings, BAD headaches and actual throwing up for days at a time... So my question is, is there anything else you guys would recomend in lue of BC?
THANKS!
Re: Avoiding a bundle of joy for a while!
I would see what else your Doctor suggests, but he probably won't be on board with an IUD, which is what most of the ladies here are going to suggest. You are really young and they seem to have issues giving IUD's to women who haven't already had children, but it seems like a great option for those who can get it approved.
I am personally on the pill and am happy with the one I have been on, very minimal side effects and it's super cheap.
I'd also recommend spermicidal lubricant along with the condoms, if that's all you have right now.
Other options are the patch and depo shot, but those also have side effects just like most everything else.
IUD - I've never had kids (and probably never will) and my obgyn is okay with it. But some aren't.
There are two kinds - completely non-hormonal and slightly hormonal.
But pill's WILL have side-effects and they take some time to even out. I don't know how long you were on each of your pills but if it was for less than 3 months you probably didn't give it enough time in your system.
Good luck.

YEAH, My Doc, already said no to IUD, and after he explained why, Im on board to not have it either. I will deffinatly ask about a lower dosage of BC pill, it might help, since my body is obviously rejects the other stuff. Also, I don't know why I didnt think of Spermicidal lube before! Cause I am SO not ready to be a mom just yet. so all advice helps! THANKS SO MUCH!!!!
Ya, I started trying some before the wedding to kind of get my system used to it. and I was on the first one for 3 weeks... I was throwing up every hour, lost alot of weight, dr. took me off... the 2nd one I tried for 2 months. Pounding headaches and Nausia every day... then Im just now geting off of the third one for simular reasons... I never thought it would be so difficult to be protected! lol
But thank you for your advice!
LOL!!!
I had problems with the regular doses of a bunch of different types, but I seem to be okay with lo-dose. So I would say to definitely look into that option. I also had the problem of bad side effects for the first week or two, and then they subsided. Not sure how long you were on them for, but you may want to give it more than a couple of days.
And welcome!!

Yikes, that is not something anybody wants to deal with! I hope the next option you try goes much better for you.
It's good that you are taking all the steps to avoid an accidental pregnancy. Babies are like face tattoos... you want to be really sure you want one because it is a permanent decision that will affect the rest of your life.
I most def. think im gonna try a lower doseage. A lot of people are recomending that on the board! APRECIATE IT!
I will deffinatly talk to my Dr. about that, my friend just told me the same thing! I just want to be safe and healthy at the same time!!! THANK YOU for yur advice!
