Starting NROLFW today

There, I said it, it's on the internet so now I'm accountable for it HA.

I've had the book since January, fully read through it and attempted one workout on a very off day.  Outside of my one group class a week, I've been totally slacking and it shows.

Thanks H&F!

Re: Starting NROLFW today

  • I started on Sunday and so far so good!  I was similar to you, had the book, read the book and put off starting for some reason.

  • Good luck. I got the book almost a year ago, I think. I want to start- but I really want someone who knows weights there for my first couple attempts to make sure I don't kill myself. There are so many people around me who do weights that it shouldn't be this difficult to get one of them to help me out :-(.

  • I started the program a month ago with my running buddy and we LOVE it! We lift three times a week alternating A-B-A and B-A-B. We are still on stage one, but I am really starting to see some awesome changes in my body. My arms are looking slimmer and my legs are definitely getting some definition, also I used to have a little fat roll on my back from my bra strap and it is virtually gone, my shirts and tops are laying so much nicer across my back now. We follow the reps/sets religiously, however due to scheduling conflicts we DO do our Couch to 5K after lifting, which I know he doesn't recommend in stage 1. It doesn't really seem to be hindering our progress on either program very much though and we are registered for our first race on June 16. Don't let the weights intimidate you, just start light on your first week to get a good feel for what you are capable of doing. It actually took us about two full weeks to really figure out how much we can lift without going overboard. Good luck, I am one of those people that really needs a "plan" when I workout so this suits me really well. We will be moving up to stage 2 in a few weeks and I am excited...I just feel so much stronger now.

  • thanks - appreciate you sharing your experience.  Good to hear you're still doing couch to 5k...I've let my running slip the past month but am planning to start again since I have a 5k I signed up for beginning of June.
  • I just started NROLFW last week and I was super sore after the first day but after 2 other work outs I have been fine. I ran before I did workout A on Monday and it made it a lot more difficult to get through the workout.

I have only been able to squeeze in 2 sessions a week plus running - once June is here and I'm on summer break, I hope to push it to 3 days a week.

    Good Luck!

  • I started NROLFW in February and am absolutely loving it. I'm currently about a week into stage 3. My biceps have increased by a half inch since starting the program. I feel so much stronger and my body is much more toned overall. Definitely worth the effort. Enjoy!
