NSOR - A Work LOL

I report to the CEO of my company as does my coworker BK. Last year, BK was told at his review that he was considered a leader in the company and that the CEO would be looking to him to help keep things in order while he was gone.

Ever since then, BK has acted really crazy, questioning me and two other people on our level about little details in our work (that have nothing to do with BK). Most recently, BK complained about me to another coworker saying I was rude to him. The other coworker did some probing and found that I wasn't actually rude, it's just that for a whole year BK has believed that we all now reported to him and that he was "in charge." BK was upset that I wasn't giving him the respect he deserved as my manager.

The coworker tried to clarify to BK that we still all reported to the CEO, but BK didn't really believe him until today when the CEO clarified everything. BK looked like he was going to cry at the meeting.

A couple of things - BK's title never changed, the org chart never changed, BK wasn't involved in any of his new "reports" reviews or salary negotiations so it's not like there were other things that would lead BK to think this.

Am I mean to find the whole thing hilarious, especially BKs public "shaming"?

Nope.  Someone rightfully being put in their place in front of a crowd is something I cant get enough of!!!  I guess I will be immature right along with you in that regard.

  • BK sounds like that annoying kid from elementary school who would volunteer to "take names" every time the teacher left the room.
She's crafty - and she's just my type.
