A 4th grader told me to shut up today...
and I had to turn away so I wouldn't laugh.

Re: A 4th grader told me to shut up today...
what did you tell him to tell you to shut up
Backstory?
He squirted milk on another kid. I told him to apologize and clean up his mess. In the midst of that, he said "SHUT UP!".
did you discipline him?
I informed my supervisor, and he was written up. I'm just a low man on the totem pole (aka can't do much besides have kids sit out from free time).
I've realized I have this problem. I also avoid correcting the little kids when they say things incorrectly....b/c it's so cute. I mean who doesn't melt when a 5 year old says "I have a wotwiler" or "I didn't did it" (I didn't do it). Clearly I should never be a teacher.
the above scenario would be cute. i would not find a nine year old telling me to "shut up" to be adorable in the least.
Oh, the shut up thing wasn't adorable. But it caught me off guard...and my instinct was to laugh. whoops.
Me too.
I also had to bite my cheek when visiting my grandmother a few weeks ago. Everything would be calm and out of no where she would look at you and say "You son of a b!tch" in a completely evil voice. The first time I had to step away for a minute and the subsequent times I bit my cheek.
Daycare is SO exhausting!
